Historical comparisons use published area results. Boundaries may change between elections. Vote shares use the ballot labelled on each chart; ballots are not individual voters.
Seat majorities count local and metro councils once, using reported seat allocations. District councils have a separate ballot. Changes compare councils with reported seats in both elections; pending allocations do not count as gains or losses.
Local election votes added together. Each municipality elects its own council.
Ward and municipal PR ballots are added together to show party support across the area.
These totals do not elect Parliament or a provincial legislature, or establish a council majority.
Ballots are not individual voters: one person can cast more than one ballot. Council outcomes are based on seats in each municipality.
